The Osun State Government announced, on Monday, that it had recovered a total of ₦53,089,683.52 that would have been overpaid to some retirees in the state.
The overpayments, which spanned from 1 January to 31 December 2023, were uncovered during audits conducted by the state’s Auditor-General, Kolapo Idris. The findings were presented at the annual Audit Forum held in Ede, Osun State.
Presenting the report, Idris explained that the Pension Unit in the Auditor-General’s office processed 437 retirees’ pension files during the year under review. Of these, 300 files were cleared without issues, while 137 files were queried for various discrepancies, attracting penalties as outlined in existing regulations.
