Obasa impeached: 10 things to know about Lagos first female speaker, Mojisola Meranda

Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has emerged as the new Speaker following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa.

Naija News reports that Meranda’s emergence followed Obasa’s impeachment as the House of Assembly Speaker over gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Below are 10 things you should know about Meranda.

1. Mojisola Meranda was born on August 16, 1980, to the family of late Chief T. A Lawal Akapo (Ojora of Lagos) and Princess M. A. Lawal-Akapo of the royal families of Ojora, Aromire, Onitana, Oloto, and Oniru.

2. Meranda’s late father was a legislator at the local level before he became the Ojora of Lagos.

3. Her mother is from the popular Oniru family in Lagos, while her brother is the Oniru of Iru land, Oba AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal.
