One of the top contenders for the throne of Alaafin of Oyo, Ismail Bukola Ladigbolu, has called on his kinsfolk from the Agunloye Ruling House to unite and support the newly appointed monarch, Oba Akeem Owoade, for the progress and betterment of the ancient town.
The PUNCH reports that threats, opposition, and litigation have followed the selection and appointment of the 45th Alaafin-designate, Oba Owoade, shortly after his announcement by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the presentation of the Staff of Office.
In a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, on Friday, Ladigbolu urged the Agunloye family to come together for the peace of the town.
He said, “If we all believe that the installation of Oba Owoade is for the progress and development of Oyo town and its surroundings, why not accept him as our brother from the same Agunloye family, unless anyone has ulterior motives behind the rejection?
