Thugs Attempt To Disrupt Edo Governorship Tribunal Again, Repelled By Security

For the second time in three days, heavily armed thugs attempted to disrupt the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which is sitting at the High Court Complex, Sapele Road, Benin.

The disruption attempt on Friday followed a similar incident on Wednesday.

The thugs reportedly tried to force their way into the venue where the Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led three-member tribunal was sitting but were swiftly repelled by security operatives stationed at the court.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, continued their case against the outcome of the September 21, 2024, Edo governorship election.

Naija News understands tha the PDP is contesting the declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress as the winner, alleging widespread irregularities during the poll.
