Many dead, several injured as petrol tanker explodes in Niger state

A tragic petrol tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State has killed several people and injured many more.

According to local reports, more than 30 individuals may have died as they rushed to scoop the product. A pregnant woman and a mother with a one-week-old child also died.

Reacting to the incident, Governor of Niger state Umaru Bago expressed deep shock, describing the explosion as worrisome.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, the governor expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

The incident occurred along the Abuja-Kaduna federal highway.
