The Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre, BioRTC, in Yobe State University, Damaturu, has announced the commencement of a community-based kidney disease research project in Yobe State.
In a statement issued on Monday, the centre explained that the project is a direct response to the rising burden of kidney disease in the state, particularly in the Bade Local Government Area. It aims to provide evidence-based solutions for improved healthcare outcomes.
“We have a diverse team of experts, including nephrologists, cardiologists, renal care nurses, medical laboratory scientists, chemists, geologists, phlebotomists, community mobilisers, and environmental specialists. Together, we are taking a multidisciplinary approach to addressing this problem by investigating its genetic, environmental, and lifestyle associations,” the statement read.
