Kano State’s newly appointed Commissioner of Commerce, Investment, and Industry, Shehu Wada Sagagi, has announced plans by his ministry to collect data on foreign businesses operating in Kano.
This initiative aims to prevent foreign entities from undermining local small businesses run by indigenes.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Sagagi emphasized the importance of ensuring that companies in the state employ Kano indigenes and adhere to their corporate social responsibility obligations.
He stressed the need to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, stating that his ministry would collaborate with other government agencies to achieve this goal.
According to him, allowing foreign entities to take over small-scale businesses that should be managed by locals would be unwise, highlighting the necessity of regulating this situation.
