Six passengers, two crew members seriously injured in United Airlines Lagos emergency landing 

A United Airlines Boeing 787-800 flight was forced to make an emergency return to Lagos early Friday morning, after taking off from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

The flight, bound for the United States, landed safely at 3:22 a.m. following the unexpected turnback, but six passengers and two crew members sustained serious injuries during the incident.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the safe deboarding of all 256 people on board, including 245 passengers and 11 crew members. Additionally, 27 passengers and five crew members sustained minor injuries.

According to FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the rescue team, comprising the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services, Aviation Medical, and Aviation Security, was on standby and responded promptly as the aircraft arrived at the gate.
