Substation maintenance throws 67 Ogun towns into darkness

No fewer than 67 communities in Ogun State have been thrown into darkness following ongoing maintenance work at a station of the Transmission Company of Nigeria in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

PUNCH Online reports that residents of Abeokuta, the state capital, and other parts of the state have complained of total blackouts in the past few days.

Before the power supply went off recently, the people said power to the state had dropped drastically, leaving them to seek alternative sources even as the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company billed unmetered customers.

In a notice on its social media handles on Friday, the Ibadan DisCo informed its customer that the current outage was due to the maintenance work being done at the Ota TCN 132kV/33kV substation.

The IBEDC disclosed that the development affected the entire Abeokuta and its environs.
