Police officer killed as bandits attack Katsina LG chairman’s residence

Suspected bandits attacked the home of Maharazu Dayi, the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, resulting in the death of a police officer.

The assailants fatally shot Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal during the attack.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating that the officer was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. He added, “The attack occurred on Tuesday, and our officers responded swiftly. The officer was transported to the hospital, where he was confirmed deceased.”

Sadiq also noted that three individuals had been arrested in connection with the assault, and that more details would follow as the investigation continues.

While it is uncertain if there were other victims, reports suggest that security personnel managed to prevent the attackers from breaching the chairman’s residence.

An anonymous witness confirmed that the chairman and his family were at home when the attack occurred.
