Jigawa community celebrates restoration of pipe-borne water after 32 years

Residents of Kantudu Ward in Birninkudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, on Thursday, expressed relief following the restoration of pipe-borne water supply to the community, 32 years after the taps ran dry.

PUNCH Online learned that the community had faced severe water scarcity for over three decades after a technical malfunction at the water source led to the cessation of the public supply.

Speaking to PUNCH Online, a few residents described the development as a much-needed relief.

Adamu Isa, a local resident, called it a “miracle” to see water flowing again from the taps after more than 32 years of dryness.

Isa said, “It has always been a nightmare to roam the streets of the community in search of non-existent pipe-borne water.
