Kano govt to spend N2.5bn on mass weddings

The Kano State government has committed N2.5 billion in 2025 to continue its tradition of quarterly mass weddings across all 44 local government areas.

This initiative, aimed at curbing illicit affairs, targets widows, widowers, divorced individuals, and financially struggling couples, helping them get remarried or find new spouses.

The government will cover dowries and provide essential items like beds, foodstuffs, and money to help couples start their new lives.

In addition to this, the government has allocated N1 billion for Ramadan feeding initiatives. Musa Shanono, the State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, shared details during a press briefing about the breakdown of the 2025 budget, which was passed by the State House of Assembly.
