Many feared dead as CNG-laden truck explodes in Abuja

Several people were feared dead on Wednesday night following the explosion of a truck carrying Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) around the Karu Bridge area of Abuja, the nation’s capital.

According to witnesses, the truck lost control near Karu Bridge, located between Kugbo and Nyanya on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

They reported that several cars were trapped in the incident, with occupants unable to escape.

The accident, which occurred around 7:14 p.m., involved the CNG-laden truck and multiple other vehicles.

Confirming the incident, the Head of Forecasting, Response, and Mitigation at the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Mark Nyam, said the crash happened when the truck driver lost control on the bridge, ramming into other motorists and triggering an explosion.
