Maritime transport union threatens withdrawal over ‘failure’ of ports call-up system

The Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA) has expressed dissatisfaction with an alleged failure of the Call-Up System (ETO) introduced by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for the maritime transport operators within the seaports in Lagos, threatening to pull out from the system.

The union has because of this served the management of NPA, a 20-day notice effective from Monday, 7th of April 2025, after which its members will disengage from further participation in the Call-Up System through the Truck Transit Park Limited (TTP) at the ports.

The notice was contained in a letter addressed to the Managing Director of NPA, dated 19th of March, 2025, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent.
