Hon. Yusuf Shittu Galambi, representing Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, has refuted allegations that members of the National Assembly were bribed to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
His statement comes amid ongoing controversy, with some groups accusing lawmakers of being influenced in their decision-making.
In a press release issued on Saturday, Galambi dismissed the claims, insisting that lawmakers neither received inducements nor were coerced into backing the president’s decision.
According to him, the majority of members supported the measure out of a commitment to protecting democracy and safeguarding the interests of the people of Rivers State.
He emphasized that the National Assembly’s endorsement was motivated by a desire to uphold patriotism, political stability, peace, and the protection of democratic institutions.
