Lazio v Celtic preview
Celtic head into Tuesday evening's trip to Rome knowing that anything less than a win will spell the end of their Champions League campaign, though they will still be relying on other results to go their way.
Brendan Rodgers' side have picked up only one point from their four matches in Group E so far, their 6-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in Spain three weeks ago leaving them five points adrift at the bottom and six points behind their second-placed Italian opponents.
The Scottish champions have won only three of their last seven matches in all competitions, most recently being a held to a shock 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Saturday afternoon, though held onto their eight point lead over Rangers, who could also only manage a draw.
For the Glasgow side to have any chance of making the Champions League knockout stage, they must win in Rome, ideally by two goals so that they lead their head-to-head with Lazio, and hope that Atletico Madrid also win Rotterdam against Feyenoord.
Defeat for Celtic would ensure their European journey ending after their final match against Feyenoord in a fortnight's time, while a draw could see them transfer to the Europa League knockout stage, providing the Dutch side don't beat Atletico.
Italian side Lazio prepare for the visit of Celtic having won just one of their last four matches in all competitions, and on Saturday afternoon fell to defeat against a previously winless Salernitana side who occupy bottom spot in Serie A.
Maurizio Sarri's side have fallen into the bottom half of the table in Italy following their shock defeat, but are fairing slightly better on the European stage, currently occupying second in the group with just two matches to play.
The Biancocelesti can book their place in the knockout stage of this season's tournament for just the second time since 2000, should they defeat their Scottish opponents on Tuesday and Atletico Madrid beat Feyenoord.
Lazio won in Glasgow last month through a 95th minute winner in their previous meeting, but Celtic did get the better of the Italian side last time they met in Rome, scoring a 95th minute winner of their own in the Europa League four years ago.
