Lewis Miley already has a World Cup winner in his pocket, but now the entire might of Paris will be targeting the 17-year-old.

The local midfielder completed his graduation from the Newcastle academy in defeat to Bournemouth, but against Chelsea he looked like a seasoned veteran.

Pulling the strings in a injury-hit XI, Miley was instrumental in a 4-1 destruction job of the £1billion Blues, even notching up an assist for Alexander Isak’s glorious opener.

But it was his all-round game that impressed so much, with the Gateshead-born youngster making things look easy against £106million 2022 World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez.

After, the praise was effusive, with Bruno Guimaraes winning the quote of the weekend award by saying: "Lewis Miley is a star - he is massive. When I was 17, sorry to use the word but I was s***.”

Jamaal Lascelles added that he’s certain Miley ‘is going to be a beast’ and at least in the short term he will have to be.

Magpies manager Eddie Howe has revealed that Miley will likely start again in Newcastle’s next game, a monumental Champions League away tie against Paris Saint-Germain, live on talkSPORT.

The reverse fixture at St James Park was one of the biggest moments in Newcastle’s modern history, smashing the 2020 finalists and record Ligue 1 winners 4-1.

Since then, though, it’s been back-to-back defeats against Borussia Dortmund, leaving Howe’s troops bottom of Group F.

PSG, meanwhile, seem to have found somewhat of a groove, with their players finally responding to Luis Enrique’s unique management style on the training ground and in press conferences.

Star man Kylian Mabppe seems to have adjusted, responding to the Spaniard’s startling criticism of his hat-trick performance in a 3-0 win over Reims where he said he was ‘not happy’ with the match winner.

Mbappe took the words on board, and then put in the hard yards against impressive title rivals Monaco, reaping the rewards with a season-best display and 5-2 win - the perfect warm up for Newcastle.

Luis Enrique is, for once, now sounding positive, and expects a similar boost to what St James’ gave Newcastle.

"The Parc des Princes will carry us, I expect a great atmosphere,” he said. “We really need the fans. We hope for a lot of passion in the stadium.

“We will play this match as a final. At this level, home games are the key matches. Tuesday could be decisive, but it could also be that it will be decided on the last day.

“But my team - it is ready to do great things.”

That’s a hell of a warning from Luis Enrique, and one that’s been echoed by midfielder Vitinha, who says that in the dressing room it’s about ‘revenge’ for the 4-1 humiliation in October.

So Miley may have an even bigger task than £106m Fernandez, but Howe is still backing him.

"I believe there's huge growth in every area of his game - athletically, physically, technically, tactically,” said Howe.

"We'll never stand still with Lewis and will look to continually help him. But what he has got already is a brilliant brain, and that brain allowed him to play so well [against Chelsea].

"We saw that in pre-season with the calmness of his performances. He really is a level-headed lad. That will really help him in this moment, he won't get too high and he'll move onto the next game.

“I thought his general performance was very good. I thought he showed the composure that we saw during pre-season – I thought he executed a very good pre-season, played very well - and he's going to be a key player for us in the next few weeks."

This week may be the biggest of the lot though, and if Miley can keep his head against the PSG ultras and their superstar idols, England may have another generational talent on its hands.
