Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush scored for Manchester City in a 2-1 comeback win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, leaving City’s hope for an FA Cup in tact into the semifinal round.
Manchester City kept their hopes of silverware alive after staging a comeback to defeat Bournemouth and secure a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals against Nottingham Forest. The Cherries took a surprise lead in the 21st minute when Evanilson scrambled in a finish, putting City under pressure at halftime. Erling Haaland, who had a frustrating first half, missed a penalty and squandered two clear chances, leaving Pep Guardiola facing the possibility of ending a season without a trophy for the first time since his debut campaign in 2016-17.
However, Guardiola’s tactical adjustments proved decisive, as substitute Nico O’Reilly, introduced at the break, delivered a pinpoint cross for Haaland to equalize just four minutes into the second half. The Norwegian striker was later forced off due to injury, leading to another change that turned the tide. Omar Marmoush, coming on in Haaland’s place, fired a shot that slipped under Kepa Arrizabalaga in the 63rd minute, sealing City’s 2-1 victory and keeping their FA Cup dream alive.
