Daily Express

The Daily Express reports that Rishi Sunak has secured an advantageous deal with France’s Emmanuel Macron to secure greater cooperation to end the Channel migrant crisis.

Rishi Sunak is facing a clash with the European Union over his government’s clampdown on Channel migrant crossings, The Guardian reports.

Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror also reports on what it calls the BBC “impartiality storm” surrounding Gary Lineker, leading with quotes from the Match of the Day host vowing that he will “continue to try and speak up for those poor souls that have no voice”.

BBC staff have been left “boiling” with anger at Gary Lineker after he sparked an impartiality row with comments about the government’s new Channel migrant policies, reports the Daily Mail.

The paper claims news staff at the broadcaster believe the Match of the Day host has “passed a tipping point” with his social media remarks, in which he compared the language used to unveil the plans to Nazi Germany.

The Daily Telegraph returns to its “Lockdown Files” series, this time reporting that Matt Hancock was told by the Cabinet Office to tone down a section of his book about the China COVID lab leak theory because of fears it would “cause problems” with Beijing.

The Independent reports that Suella Braverman is facing a battle over the government’s clampdown on Channel migrant crossings, with civil servants telling the Home Secretary that that plan won’t work.

France’s President, Emmanuel Macron, is also expected to tell the UK to make annual payments for his country to step up patrols in Calais, the paper adds.
