The Sun

The Sun has an exclusive interview with the mother of Claudia Lawrence, the chef who went missing in York 14 years ago, who claims the BBC is still chasing her daughter for unpaid TV licence fees. 

The Times

The Times reports that the chancellor’s budget announcement will aim to push for growth by getting parents back in jobs. 

Daily Express

The Daily Express leads with “Hunt’s carrot and stick”, referring to the chancellor’s budget announcement, which is expected to offer more support in order to get millions back to work.

The Daily Telegraph

Jeremy Hunt being poised to face a backlash over the rise of corporation tax, as part of the budget announcement, tops The Daily Telegraph. 

It also features a picture of former health secretary, Matt Hancock, and his partner Gina Coladangelo at Cheltenham Festival. 

Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror urges Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to be “fair to those who need it most”, as he announces the budget.

Daily Star

The Daily Star reports that survivalist Bear Grylls has said we should be eating animal hearts, lungs and testicles in order to live a healthy life.

Daily Mail

Free childcare is to be extended to infants aged one and two tops the Daily Mail, as it refers to Jeremy Hunt’s budget announcement as the “back to work budget”.

The i leads with Jeremy Hunt’s plan to announce an expansion of free childcare for one and two-year-olds, as part of the budget.

The Independent

The Independent says Gary Lineker is taunting the BBC after changing his Twitter profile picture to an image of him in front of a “free speech” wall. 

It follows the BBC’s apology to Lineker after he temporarily stood back from presenting Match of the Day over tweets criticising the government’s migration policy.

The Guardian

An expansion of £4bn of free childcare for one and two-year-olds in England is expected to be announced in the budget, reports The Guardian.

It also features a picture of Queen guitarist Brian May being knighted by the King for his services to music and charity.

Metro

The Metro leads with the news that a Russian fighter jet brought down a US drone over the Black Sea.

The Russian Defence Ministry earlier claimed the fighter jets did not come into contact with the drone.

Financial Times

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announcing a “Budget for growth” with billions of pounds to boost business investment, and bolster Britain’s workforce, tops the Financial Times.
