The PUNCH: There is hope that the unexpected win by opposition parties in some states during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections may repeat itself in today’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections in most parts of the country.
The Guardian: As 837 governorship candidates across 28 states and 10,240 flag bearers for the 993 State Assembly seats seek the votes of the electorate in today’s governorship and State Assembly elections, there are fears in many states over threats of violence. However, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has re-assured the electorate that there would be a better and improved security arrangement for the elections.

The governorship and state assembly elections are being held a week later than initially scheduled after a court judgement forced the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to move it forward.
