Reports on the transition programmes of the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu, president-elect, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.
The Punch reports that Tinubu has pledged to address the security and power crises, among other challenges confronting the country. The newspaper says the house of representatives, on Thursday, grilled Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, over the alleged illegal sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil valued at over $2.4 billion.
The Nation says Tinubu said he understands the task ahead of him as president of Nigeria. The newspaper reports that Adamu Adamu, minister of education, has admitted he had no knowledge of the education sector when President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him to head the ministry.
THISDAY reports that Buhari has handed over transition documents to Tinubu. The newspaper says health workers in the country under the umbrella of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations (AHPA) have declared an indefinite strike.
Daily Trust reports that Buhari said he has run a good race and finished his course as the president of Nigeria.
Vanguard reports that southern and middle-belt leaders have expressed worry over the increasing rate of killings in Nigeria. The newspaper says Malami has insisted that the claim of the alleged illegal sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil is false.
