The Sun leads with its campaign to protect motorists from “expensive net zero policies” such as low traffic zones. It says drivers are being treated like “cash cows” amid the push to reduce emissions.

The Times reports that prolific shoplifters will be targeted with mandatory jail sentences for repeat offences and a greater use of facial recognition by police and retailers.

AI weapons “will pose a risk to humanity” says the i as it reports Parliament has been warned of the “unfathomable risk” if artificial intelligence is used in the UK’s weapons arsenal.

The Star reports on Rishi Sunak’s helicopter journeys. He’s been criticised by some for using air travel to travel short distances

The prime minister has given permission for more than 100 new North Sea oil and gas drilling licences, Metro reports.

Mortgage approvals rose in June and consumer credit grew at its fastest for five years, says the Financial Times.
