The PUNCH: Barely 24 hours after meeting with President Bola Tinubu where an agreement was reached to call off their protests, the rapprochement between the organised labour and the Federal Government appeared to have collapsed as the unions on Thursday night vowed to embark on a nationwide strike from August 14 if their leaders were summoned for contempt of court orders.

The Guardian: As former governors increasingly populate the Senate and cabinet of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, their children, relatives and cronies are also gradually filling state and federal legislatures, as well as states’ cabinets as commissioners, advisers and MDAs’ Board members, in what many see as acts of nepotism or favouritism.

The Nation: All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje yesterday promised to reposition the platform for growth and victory in future polls. He spoke in Abuja shortly after he was elected as the sixth chair of the 10-year-old party during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting

Daily Trust: The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Thursday threatened to begin a nationwide strike on August 14 if the Federal Ministry of Justice failed to withdraw the lawsuit filed against the organised labour. President of NLC, Joe Ajaero, who spoke to journalists in Abuja after the National Executive Council meeting, asked the federal government to withdraw the contempt charge on or before the close of work on August 11.
