The Sun

In The Sun, Countdown star and Manchester United supporter Rachel Riley doubles down on her criticism of the club over its handling of the Mason Greenwood affair and calls for the chief executive to resign.

The Times

A Chinese spy has been contacting UK officials on professional social media site LinkedIn in an attempt to persuade them to hand over state secrets for money, according to The Times.

The paper says the lone spy created a string of aliases and fake businesses on the social media site and targeted UK security officials, civil servants, scientists and academics.

The Daily Telegraph

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Prime Minister has been advised by government lawyers not to try to block the Mayor of London’s ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) expansion.

The paper says cabinet ministers had considered blocking the expansion under special powers which allow them to reject the mayor’s transport strategies if they are inconsistent with national policy.

However, government lawyers believe such a challenge would be rejected by the courts, according to the Telegraph.

A mother and father whose daughter was nearly murdered by killer nurse Beverley Allitt more than 30-years ago have questioned why lessons were not learnt that may have stopped Lucy Letby, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Daily Mail reports on the UK’s first womb transplant – which the paper describes as a “huge breakthrough” for thousands of women who might otherwise be unable to give birth.

The donor was a 40-year-old mother-of-two who donated her womb to her younger sister in the hope she will be able to have a child of her own.

The parents of one of Lucy Letby’s child victims have accused the hospital where the killer nurse worked of a “fobbing them off” when they pleaded for answers, The Guardian reports.

Financial Times

The Financial Times reports that potential investors in the UK-based computer chip firm Arm have raised concerns over its exposure to China.

The filing for the company’s planned listing on the US Nasdaq in September said nearly a quarter of its revenues came from China, and it was “particularly susceptible” to potential economic and political risks in the country – including a recent souring of Beijing’s relationship with the US.

A doctor who first raised concerns about killer nurse Lucy Letby has called for NHS bosses who ignored her warnings to be held to account, The Independent reports.
