The Times

A new era dawns for the Murdoch empire as Rupert passes the baton to elder son Lachlan, The Times reports. The paper also leads with PM Rishi Sunak planning to overhaul the A-level curriculum in favour of a wider range of subjects being studied after GCSE.

Jeremy Hunt’s optimism on the cost of living crisis is the splash in the Daily Express. The chancellor said “the tide is turning” after interest rates were frozen after 14 consecutive hikes.

Green campaigners are seeking to legally challenge Prime Minister Rishi Sunak after he announced a raft of changes to the UK’s climate pledges, The Guardian reports. The paper also features Rupert Murdoch stepping down as chairman of his media empire.

The Daily Telegraph

The Telegraph leads with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt saying that reducing taxes is “virtually impossible” due to a commitment to halve inflation this year to about 5.3%. Also on the front page is Rupert Murdoch with his elder son Lachlan, who will take over his father’s media empire after Mr Murdoch stepped down as chairman of News Corp and Fox.

Comedian Russell Brand has been accused of exposing himself to a woman on the BBC’s premises, The Sun reports. The paper adds Brand joked about it on his Radio 2 show. The fresh allegations follow four women claiming Brand assaulted them between 2006 and 2013.

The Daily Mail leads with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer – who has been filmed saying he does not want the UK to diverge from EU rules, as first reported by Sky News. Conservatives have deemed this a “monstrous” plan, the paper said. 

Daily Star

The Daily Star leads with consumers shunning Spam – processed meat popular during and after World War Two – and the paper is encouraging its readers to back the canned delicacy.

Financial Times

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is pictured on the front page of the FT after he stepped down as the chairman of Fox and News Corp. The 92-year-old is passing on the empire to his elder son, Lachlan. 

Metro

An eight-year-old girl has made history by being the first transplant patient who will be able to accept her new organ without needing to take drugs for life, Metro reports. Aditi Shankar’s immune system was “reprogrammed” using her mother’s stem cells resulting in the breakthrough, according to the paper.
