The PUNCH: It was a tragic weekend in Niger State after no fewer than 70 persons, including a pregnant woman and many children, were burnt to death while scooping fuel from a crashed fuel tanker. At least 56 residents sustained varying degrees of burns and were rushed to different hospitals for treatment. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning when a speeding petrol tanker crashed on Dikko Junction along the expressway between Niger and Kaduna states.


Vanguard: In its New Year message, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) said the 2024 economic performance was unsatisfactory for the private sector, calling for economic reforms to address imbalances threatening the private sector in the country.


The Nation: Another petrol tanker exploded in Niger State yesterday, leaving no fewer than 70 people dead and many others injured. Millions of naira worth of property was also destroyed. Most of the victims, including a pregnant woman and children, were burnt beyond recognition after they were enveloped by the fire triggered by the explosion.
