'With fake debit alert, couple takes away N479,000 baby items from Ibadan store'

Adedayo Ogungbade, the owner of a children’s store in Aleshiloye, Ibadan, has told FIJ how a couple used a bogus debit alert to cart away N479,600 worth of goods from her store.

Ogungbade told FIJ that the couple carried out the fraud on Tuesday afternoon.

“On the 22nd of November, at about 2:30 pm, a couple came into my store to buy baby things. After the shopping, their bill cost a total of N479,600. We handed the couple a bill and they said that they wanted to do a money transfer for the payment,” Ogungbade told FIJ on Saturday.

“The wife told us that she had done it and she showed a debit alert. They left before we realised that they were fraudsters. The debit alert was apparently fake.”
