A former footballer threatened to kill his partner after discovering she was pregnant, with his victim sharing her experience.

Fisayo Adarabioyo, who played professionally in England, Scotland, Romania and The Netherlands, was found guilty of harassment without violence at Warrington Magistrates Court on January 3. The former Manchester City academy player was sentenced to a 12-month community order after “bombarding” his ex-partner with texts.

The footballer and his ex-partner had ended their relationship in late 2021, the victim said. The court heard that Adarabiayo, 27, turned up at the woman’s house late at night and demanded to be let in, before later sending “dozens” of texts saying: ‘If you tell anyone I’ll kill you’ and ‘Just kill yourself – everyone will be happier’.

“We were seeing each other on and off. It wasn’t a serious relationship because there is an age gap between us,” the woman, whose identity has been concealed, told the Manchester Evening News. “He is 27 and I have just turned 39. I also have a child from another relationship.

“I realised that I did want to go ahead with the pregnancy and I tried to meet up with him to have a conversation about it but that was unsuccessful. I had not been able to meet up with him so I had to send him a text. I was nearly 24 weeks pregnant at this point. His reaction was shocking and scary.”

In addition to his community order, Adarabioyo will need to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay the victim £200 in compensation. A 12-month restraining order has also been issued, preventing the 27-year-old contacting the victim or going near her home, while £640 in court costs must also be paid.
