Six awful football rebrands from Hull to Cardiff as Elon Musk turns Twitter to X

Elon Musk has brought yet another change to Twitter in the biggest rebrand in the social media platform’s history, with the killing of the famous bluebird.

The app that was launched in 2006 and the icon of a bluebird had become instantly recognisable all over the world, but Musk announced on Monday that the app will change its logo to ‘X’ and any design of the previous brand will be gone

And in honour of another astute change to Twitter since Elon’s takeover, Daily Star Sport looks at six of the worst footballing rebrands in history.

MK Dons

Where else to start but at MK Dons. In September 2003, Wimbledon were relocated from south London to Milton Keynes after failing to find a permanent home since they left Plough Lane in 1991.

Owner Pete Winkelman bought the relocated club and changed the club’s entire identity whilst claiming Wimbledon’s history. It only took nine years for AFC Wimbledon to go from Step 5 in the non-league pyramid back to the Football League.

Leeds badge change
