Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the White House following an intelligence report that found Iran is attempting to undermine former President Trump’s presidential campaign. Pompeo argued that the Biden-Harris administration’s policies of “weakness and appeasement” have emboldened Tehran.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) revealed these findings during a press briefing on Monday. An official stated that U.S. spy agencies “observed Tehran working to influence the presidential election,” likely in an effort to avoid escalating conflicts with the U.S. The regime is reportedly using “vast webs of online personas and propaganda mills” to spread disinformation. While the ODNI did not explicitly state that Iran was targeting Trump, an official noted there has been no change in Iran’s preferences since 2020, indicating Tehran’s continued focus on the Republican candidate.
In an interview with Fox News Digital on Tuesday, Pompeo expressed no surprise at Iran’s attempts to influence the election. He claimed that Iran was “isolated, broke, and weak” when he left office in January 2021 and accused the Biden administration of empowering the Iranian regime.
