The Lagos State Police Command has stated that no one is currently being detained for participating in the ongoing protest against economic hardship in the state.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday, Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that no protesters are in custody. He noted that all individuals arrested on Thursday were released the same day, following a directive from Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade.
Inibehe Effiong, a key figure in the protests, had earlier reported that at least 12 protesters were detained on Thursday. However, Effiong later verified that all detainees had been released, praising the police and other security personnel for their professional management of the situation.
