Japa syndrome: NASS commits to creating conducive environment for youths

The 10th National Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to passing laws that will create an environment where young people can thrive and contribute to national development. Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau made this pledge on Saturday in Abuja during the 2024 Conference & 6th National Discourse, organized by the Companion, an association of Muslim professionals in various fields, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The conference’s theme, “Between Patriotism & Self-Preservation: Dilemmas of the Nigerian Youth – Challenges at Home, Uncertainties Abroad,” highlighted the ethical issues facing Nigerian youth and their struggles to fully appreciate their national identity.

Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, emphasized that both the legislative and executive branches of government are collaborating to create opportunities for young people to achieve their full potential. He stated, “I want to reaffirm that under the leadership of Sen. Godswill Akpabio, the 10th National Assembly is dedicated to enacting laws that will make Nigeria a welcoming place for our youth. This will help ensure they stay here and contribute to our national progress.
