The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issued a warning on Monday to Igbo politicians, cautioning them against exploiting the detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, for personal political gain.
IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, criticized South-East politicians who claim to be working towards Kanu’s release, stating that their efforts are mostly empty rhetoric.
He remarked: “The esteemed family and movement of IPOB, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu, urge some self-proclaimed Igbo politicians and leaders to cease using Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s name for their own political advantage.
“The IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is enduring confinement by the DSS not for Nigerian politics but for the liberation of Biafrans and the restoration of the Biafra Nation.
“IPOB appreciates Ndigbo for abstaining from the #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria. Despite being politically and economically marginalized and ostracized, Ndigbo have developed a resilience to survive decades of persecution in Nigeria.”
