The Nigerian Army has dismissed a soldier for stealing his colleague’s phone, SaharaReporters has gathered.
According to a source, the Lance Corporal, Kenewenimo Lokoja (12NA/67/3446) was dismissed last week.
He was said to have stolen a phone of one of his colleagues while on a course sponsored by the army authorities.
The source added that Kenewenimo was recently promoted to a new rank of Corporal and was expected to be decorated officially few days before his dismissal.
“He was dismissed a day before his decoration as a Corporal for stealing of phone while on course,” the source said.
Few months ago, SaharaReporters exclusively reported how a soldier, Private Yahaya Sani, stabbed his colleague, Private Aliyu Musa, in Enugu.
Sani, attached to the 74 Supply and Transportation Brigade, 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division of the Nigerian Army, was said to have accused Musa of stealing his phone.
It was also learnt that Musa had complained that his phone was missing, alleging that the only person with him before it went missing was Yahaya.
A source had told that the two soldiers were coming from New Artisan Market, Enugu when one of them started looking for his phone.
The source had said, “It happened that the phone got missing, while they were in transit. So, Musa asked Yahaya about it, but he denied knowledge of the whereabouts of the phone.
“He insisted that Yahaya was with him at the spot before the sudden disappearance of his phone and started attacking him for stealing his phone.
“This happened on Monday night. In retaliation, Yahaya held his hand, disarmed Musa and stabbed him in the head with a dagger.
“Musa is currently receiving treatment in 82DMSH, while Sani is currently under custody for further investigation in 82 Division Garrison’s guard room.”
