A 16-year-old boy has been remanded in custody after being charged with robbery following ‘shocking’ footage emerging of a man being beaten.
A 16-year-old girl, who is believed to have filmed the incident, has also been arrested.
The video of the attack shows a man in his 40s sitting on Blackpool Promenade ‘completely defenceless’ and ‘minding his own business’ on Wednesday morning.
Another male approaches him and asks him for a ‘spare cig’ then starts shouting at him near the seaside town’s Lifeboat Station.
The man is said to have given him the cigarette he was smoking but the youth then demanded he hand over ‘everything’ and beat him senseless when he did not give in to his threats.
The attacker then starts repeatedly kicking and punching the victim before picking up and taking his bag.
Lancashire police said the victim has been left with several broken bones and serious cuts and bruises but ‘thankfully’ no life-threatening injuries.
