Ella Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, posted Saturday on her Instagram story that the rumor she had a mental breakdown and was checked into a hospital is “not true.”
“Also fuck you if you’re out there spreading that,” Emhoff, the daughter of First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, wrote. “There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is probably needs a good cry.”
She continued: “I’ve struggled with my mental health my whole life and I’m not ashamed of it.”
She ended the post with a photo of her and her dog, “I’ve literally just been here playing fetch with Jerry.”
The rumor seemingly came from X, formerly known as Twitter.
