None of them should be neglected, according to Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov
There are only 7,000 living veterans of the Second World War in Russia and none of them should be neglected, the country’s Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has said.
Belousov made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting of the Victory Organizing Committee as Russia prepares to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in May.
“It is extremely important to surround them (veterans) with special care, to make sure that none of them are left without attention,” the defense minister stressed.
According to Belousov, veterans will traditionally take their place of honor in the stands of the main military parades on May 9. Those who won’t be able to join the Victory Day celebration due to health reasons will be personally visited and congratulated at their homes and medical institutions by representatives of the authorities and public…
