US President Donald Trump has announced that he expects to hold a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties and the prospects of a peace agreement in the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said he plans to speak with Putin on March 18, according to Reuters reporter Jeff Mason.
“We will see if we have something to announce maybe by Tuesday. I will be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday. A lot of work’s been done over the weekend. We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. We will be talking about land. We will be talking about power plants,” Trump said as cited by journalist Yashar Ali.
