Dutchman sets Guinness World Record as the longest-surviving heart transplant patient

After being diagnosed with a serious heart condition four decades ago and given only six months to live, Bert Janssen has defied the odds and achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a Guinness World Record as the longest-surviving transplant patient.

The Dutchman, who was just 17 years old when he received the devastating diagnosis of cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disease that affects the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively, is now determined to serve as an inspiration to others.

“I want to be an example for people,” Janssen expressed, highlighting his desire to demonstrate that living a long and fulfilling life after a heart transplant is indeed possible.
