I am glad Peter Obi has admitted to his followers that Egypt, a country he visited and praised and urged Nigeria to learn from, also received grain donations from Ukraine. That completely destroys his argument that it was a national disgrace for Nigeria to receive grain donations from Ukraine, since it is a war-torn country. Or does Peter Obi no longer admire Egypt? Or was Ukraine not war torn in September of 2023 when they gave grain donations to Egypt?
Peter Obi should be aware that there is a hunger crisis in the Northeast of Nigeria, which is just coming out of a scorched earth war of attrition with terror. That is what the donation was meant for specifically. The same way that foreign nations also donated food and other relief materials to Anambra in 2012, when Peter Obi was Governor. It is instructive to state that when Obi received those 2012 donations, neither he nor his opposition called it a national disgrace.Â
It is wrong to politicise hunger. Beyond being wrong, it is almost evil. If Peter Obi cannot or will not help the hunger situation in the Northeast of Nigeria, maybe because he feels that the people of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa did not vote for him, he should not rubbish those who do, or politicise their efforts.Â
Finally, I urge Mr. Obi to read Proverbs 10:19:
“Too much talk leads to sin”.
