Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki quietly stormed the State Collation Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Aduwawa, Benin, the State capital to protest the governorship election results which had not been officially announced yet.
According to reports, Obaseki who is a supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, went into the INEC premises around 2 a.m., under the cover of darkness.
He went straight to the office of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo, Anugbum Onuoha.
However, Onuoha did not give him an audience.
According to a video shared by TVC, on Sunday, September 22, Obaseki was seen quietly leaving the premises after many hours without speaking, briefly glancing back.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Frank Mba, who was overseeing security for the Edo election, was present with a heavy police presence to maintain peace and order.
