A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi, Senator Dino Melaye, has shared a clever response to a supporter of President Bola Tinubu who begged him for money.
Melaye, in a Facebook post on Saturday, said he wrote “Renewed Hope” on the cheque he gave to Tinubu’s supporter.
“Tinubu supporter begged me for money, I brought out my cheque and wrote on it… ” Renewed Hope”,” he wrote.
This comes amid struggles many Nigerians face, with some being forced to beg for food due to economic hardship.
It’s worth noting that Melaye has been critical of Tinubu and his supporters in the past.
In one instance, he mocked Tinubu’s symbolic gesture of raising his hands during the national anthem, which was meant as a protest against fuel and currency scarcity. He also mocked Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election following the latter’s controversial state of health at the time.
