I read with dismay the vile and hateful comments against Pastor Enoch Adeboye by prominent members of the Obidient movement and was horrified. I do not want to repeat some of the things they said here, because it is sickening.
And why are they heaping abuse on the man of God? Because he said he and his team prayed, and God intervened to stop the free fall of the Naira.
What exactly is wrong with that? I pray in my closet, and God gives me ideas to solve my challenges. Is it too much to think that God could not have given ideas to those in charge of the Naira on the strength of the faith and prayers of Pa Adeboye?
If you do not believe this, then you cannot truly believe in the articles of the Jewish, Christian or Islamic faiths.
And even more surprising is that twenty-four hours after his horde of rudapests started savaging the reputation of Pastor Adeboye, Peter Obi, their leader, has said absolutely nothing. This is a man who speaks immediately when his own personal or tribal interests are affected. But he is silent.
One wonders whether, after plotting “religious war” against Muslims, Mr. Obi and his movement also want to extend their declaration of hostilities to the largest Christian church in Nigeria.
But let me say this. For all these insults against Pastor Adeboye, he remains unscathed. Indeed, if he chooses to go to the United Kingdom today for a crusade, I dare say that he would be received by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, just as Pastor Adeboye was received on Friday, April 17, 2015, by then Prime Minister David Cameron, who also requested and received prayers from the man of God, whom he fondly and publicly called ‘Daddy’.
Alas, when some other people go to the same United Kingdom, their shady and criminal nature makes it such that they are arrested and detained at London Heathrow Airport. Today, such people have the audacity to call Pastor Adeboye a “criminal”.
