Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the funds as part of the administration’s efforts to promote social welfare and reduce the financial burden on families struggling with the cost of marriage. The program, which has been a tradition in Kano, is expected to cover expenses such as dowries, wedding attire, furniture, and food supplies for the couples.

Kano State Government has earmarked N2.5 billion in 2025 appropriation for a mass wedding program across the 44 local governments of the state.
The budget intervention for incapacitated widows and widowers, divorces, suitors, and spinsters seeking marriage came under N91.32 billion allocations for the governance and service delivery sector.
Although the number of beneficiaries of the 2025 mass wedding program has not been released, the present administration spent about N845 million on 1,800 couples under a similar package in 2024.
Giving a breakdown of the 2025 appropriation for the 2025 fiscal year, Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Sulaiman Shanono, said N 1 billion is equally earmarked for the Ramadan feeding program.
According to the commissioner, over N267 million will be allocated for printing the Islamic calendar and support for Da’awah program in the year 2025.
