VeryDarkMan issues public apology to Femi Falana over Bobrisky bribery allegations

“Here, I apologise. It’s so sad that his name was inside that audio. I couldn’t believe as well; that is the part that irritated me more when I said I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

A social media influencer, Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, issued a public apology on Monday to renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, over recent comments implying Falana’s involvement in a bribery case. Appearing before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions, VeryDarkMan clarified that he never believed Falana had any connection to the alleged bribery scandal involving crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigeria Correctional Service.

In his statement, VeryDarkMan expressed regret, saying, “Some people are now taking advantage of this situation to target Femi Falana. I apologize. It’s unfortunate that his name was dragged into the audio, and I couldn’t believe it either.”

The controversy arose after VeryDarkMan shared an audio clip of Bobrisky, who claimed to have bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges. In the recording, Bobrisky also alleged that her “godfather” and the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, arranged for her to serve a six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison.
