The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled an internet fraud training facility, known as a “Yahoo School,” operating in the Iju area. According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, officers arrested four principal suspects, aged between 22 and 26, who were training six others, including a 12-year-old, in cybercrime. Investigations revealed that the ringleaders recruited trainees from Anambra and confiscated the proceeds from their fraudulent activities. All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation and prosecution.
Authorities are also pursuing the sponsors who financed the trainees’ enrollment and the owner of the facility, urging him to surrender immediately. The police confirmed that the 12-year-old suspect, who had visible injuries allegedly inflicted by the main suspect, is receiving medical care and will remain in protective custody until reunited with his relatives. The public has been encouraged to report any fraud-related complaints to the SCID, as law enforcement intensifies efforts to curb cybercrime in the state.
