The South East Youths for Democracy (SEYD) has thrown its weight behind the Deputy Speakership position zoned by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the All Prohressives Congress(APC) to the Southeast.
The group said rejecting such position may exclude the region from the leadership of the 10th National Assembly and advised Ndigbo to allow Benjamin Kalu to occupy the position as he remains the best option for the Southeast.
It said: “The capacity which Hon. Benjamin Kalu has shown in the current House of Representatives with number of motions and bills he has passed, the highest in the entire Southeast with 20 motions and 43 bills to his name and three assented to by Mr President, he remains the best option for the Southeast.
The group, in a statement by the coordinator, Comrade Fabulous Wisdom, said Kalu remains the brightest Southeast could offer for the position.
He noted that the SEYD, leaning on patriotic zeal to protect the region from the negative image of divisiveness in purpose and absence of a united front, deems it necessary to make interventions for the sake of posterity.
