Leaders from across Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, have described the current reforms being initiated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike as phenomenal.
They spoke in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday after their gathering in Abuja.
The group, under the auspices of Indigenous Coalition for Good Governance in FCT, said the achievements of the Tinubu administration just a few months in office were deserving of applause.
The leader of the coalition, and former House of Representatives member, Hon Lazarus Zaka Gaza expressed deep appreciation for the laudable achievements recorded so far by the Tinubu administration.
Gaza said as a son of the soil, he was privy to all the happenings in the FCT, stressing that the current government had taken many bold initiatives geared towards giving the federal capital a pride of place.
He said, “I speak today with a great sense of delight over recent events in my constituency, which is the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“As a full blown son of the soil born, I have been opportune to be globally exposed and have a world view of what government is and its primary responsibility.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in to head the Nigerian Government as President on May 29, 2023, and since that event, he has indeed hit the ground running.”
Gaza, who was once a Director Human Resources Management in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), described Tinubu as “the leader that FCT has been yearning for.”
He added that, “His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who is exercising the power of the President in the FCT is a clear demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.
“Let me be categorical, Mr President, FCT people are not just grateful, we are joyfully overwhelmed by this masterstroke to properly position the FCT to enjoy what other states are enjoying by this singular act of creating the FCT Civil Service commission.
“This will go down in history as the single most powerful act to ensure that FCT indigenes and residents fully and properly attain the zenith of their careers.
“This portends that we can now progress to Permanent Secretaries and enjoy the benefits thereof as a people.”
He also lauded the withdrawal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account, describing it as “a class act that shows the special place Mr President has placed FCT in the grand scheme of things in Nigeria.”
He expressed delight over the women affairs secretariat, which he said demonstrated a special focus on empowering FCT women and giving them a veritable platform to maximise their potential.
