A voter in the ongoing Ondo state gubernatorial has revealed that she and her relatives were paid to cast their votes.
In a video by TVC, the elderly woman can be seen describing the electoral process as peaceful and devoid of violence.
Asked by a TVC journalist how she perceived the electoral process, she said in Yoruba:Source: TVC News
“We have voted. The voting process is going very peacefully. There are no problems; there are no fights.
“There is no problem for us; we have voted and we collected money. All of us (referring to the people around her), we collected money with which we voted.”
She would have continued but a younger woman seated beside her interjected her, saying: “Mama, don’t say that part. Don’t talk about the money.”
Vote buying is a permanent fixture of Nigerian elections, with multiple parties guilty of the act.
